I spent the whole of this thinking I was re-watching the far more famous Carl Theodore Dreyer version from 1955 (which I could barely remember). I wasn’t. It was just incorrectly listed as that on Netflix. Therefore in happy ignorance I watched it thinking what a genius Dreyer was. I said to my wife at one point early on: "isn't this the film with the weirdo who thinks he's Jesus?" Really strange film one that I knew nothing about untill the purchse which I sought about randomly. This is a sensational cult film. The only other film that I have ever rated so Highly is ' Whatever Happened To Baby Jane' starring Betty Davis. I love Ordet because it is out of the norm. Ordet is a movie I saw for the first time on Turner Movie Classics during the Christmas holidays approximately five years ago. I was so taken by the gravity of the message and the richness of the character portrayals that I combed the internet until I found it at Amazon.com on DVD.
